Meet the Start ups of Start up Olé 2021

STARTUP OLÉ ANNOUNCE THE WINNERS OF ITS SEVENTH EDITION

Startup OLÉ, the great technological event for entrepreneurs after the summer, has come to an end. The modality of this seventh edition was mixed, being the 6th and 7th of September in digital format and from the 8th to the 10th in person in Salamanca. To facilitate access to all the content, Startup OLÉ’21 was broadcast in its entirety completely free and openly through its Youtube channel.

Among the activities carried out on Friday 10th September, the prize-giving ceremony and the announcement of the winning startups in each vertical, as well as the winner of Startup OLÉ ’21, stood out.

As a finishing touch to this edition, the Startup OLÉ 2021 Recognition Awards were presented, whose prizes are as follows:

The Best Corporate award was granted to Capital Energy.

Best Venture Capital and Private Equity Institution was awarded to ASCRI.

Best Public Administration was awarded to CDTI.

Best Essential Infrastructure Management Corporate was awarded to Red Eléctrica Española.

Best Media was awarded to OkDiario.

Best Hub was awarded to Oracle 4 Startups.

Best Rural Public Administration was awarded to Diputación de Salamanca.

Best Rural Innovation Institution was awarded to the Guardia Civil.

The Best Social 4 Good Institution award went to the Red Cross.

The winner of the Reverse Pitch was Impulsa Visión – RTVE.

The winner of the Social Impact/Humanitarian Technology vertical – HR-Tech was Park4Dis

The winner of the Space vertical was NANOKER RESEARCH, S.L.

The winner of the Telecommunications vertical was WeKall

The winner of the TravelTech/Tourism vertical was PassportScan Cloud

And, of all of them, Velca was the winner of Startup OLÉ ’21 who, in addition to receiving a grant from ElCampus360 (like each winner of the corresponding vertical), will participate in Pegasus Tech Ventures’ Startup World Cup in San Francisco. This is a brand of 100% electric motorbikes and mopeds with an intelligent system designed to improve the sustainability of the planet and mobility in cities.

In addition, Eventidis was the winner of the Startup European University Network (SEUN) pitch competition, and Innogando was the winner of the Ruralizable pitch competition.

Iberdrola also announced the winner of the ‘micromobility’ challenge during the awards ceremony of the seventh edition of Startup OLÉ, as sponsor of the energy vertical, with the Andalusian technology company Solum being the lucky winner.  Solum presented its international startup programme, Perseo, with which it was looking for safe parking and charging solutions for electric Personal Mobility Vehicles (PMVs), such as bicycles or scooters that favour the electrification of urban transport. As the winner, it will enter into a collaboration agreement with Iberdrola to start defining and developing a proof of concept, offering the winner the possibility of scaling up the solution by adapting it through commercial agreements.

Finally, the Best Global Impact award was presented to European Commissioner Mariya Gabriel for her demonstrated courage in supporting the startup sector, outstanding support for the startup ecosystem, proven persistence, strong leadership in Europe in the creation of startups and unicorns, and her encouragement of universities to become drivers of innovation.

Startup OLÉ has finally announced when its eighth edition will be held, from 6th to 8th of September 2022 at in the Hospedería Fonseca, Colegio Arzobispo Fonseca, I+D+i Building, Auditorio San Blas, San Francisco park and, as a novelty, Castilla y León Conference and Exhibition Centre, in Salamanca.

On a local, regional and institutional level, Startup OLÉ has the broad support of the City Council, the Provincial Council and the University of Salamanca, ensuring that the name Startup OLÉ continues to be associated with this city synonymous of talent, history and innovation for another year.

Ranked 3rd in Germany’s Top 100 Fastest-Growing Startups

Resilience and Reinvention.

We are honoured to be recognized by Business Insider as one of the top 3 fastest-growing startups in Germany for July 2020.

Although the Coronavirus pandemic was a hard hit to the economy, the online platform for internationals, Club GLOBALS, managed to turn the tables and reinvented its brand by creating two additional ventures: GLOBALS Homes and GLOBALS Jobs.

By doing so, Club GLOBALS has created a one-stop-shop online marketplace where English-speaking expats and internationals in Berlin can find their new apartment, new job, and new community in one go.

Startups meet Investors and Partners

We are proud to share with you that the 3rd Start Up Connect Berlin was a great success! Our goal was connecting International Startups with Investors and Institutions. With speakers from Germany and abroad, we shared the content and knowledge about Startups.

We want to thank everybody who joined the 3rd Startup Connect Berlin and special thanks to our partners and investors. At first, we started with the speeches from Yannis and Mario and later the first panel started. Later we continued with Ben Bauer (CO-Founder at Foodpanda), the second panel and after that, the Startup Competition started.

Growth Stage Company Forum

On the 15th of October 2015, we got the opportunity to attend the Growth Company Forum. This event was organized by: AmCham Germany, U.S. members Bundesverband Deutsche Startups and German startups GTEC Berlin.

The Growth Company Forum is an interactive half-day conference. It was featuring keynotes from industry experts and other leaders. There is presentations by companies, startup pitches, and networking opportunities. Therefore they aimed at illuminating the current limits and possibilities of  funding in Germany.

In conclusion, the interactive forum was Great Opportunity. Most of all because we had the chance to meet Growth Stage Startups and companies interested develop their business.

It was an amazing experience to listen to such Senior speakers. Among this year speakers were the following:

  • Ken Morse which is an ex-MD MIT Entrepreneurship Center.
  • Erik Heinelt wich is in German Startup Association e.V.
  • Christian Miele, the VP of e.ventures.
  • Andrej Kiska which is the President of the Slovak Republic.
  • Ludwig von Reiche the MD of NVIDIA GmbH.
  • Benjamin Rohé which is in the German Tech Entrepreneurship Center.
  • Thomas Stafford a partner at DST Global.
